Why we do not accept the 2010 election? What we need to do it?

By Htun Aung Gyaw

We do not accept the 2010 election sponsored by the Burmese regime because we have a strong reason to believe that it will not give freedom and liberty to our people including the soldiers who are working under the generals’ command. Everyone knows that 2008 Constitution is far away from democratic norms and principles. Instead of the Constitution below facts will proved that we have the reasonable doubt about the coming election.

1. Potential political leaders and many political prisoners are still in various prisons or detentions.
2. Current political parties have no right to call for party convention, organizational trips, and reopen their offices which have been forced to close down for years.
3. Newspapers and radio stations are totally control and run by the regime, there are no single independent newspapers, radio station or TV station existed in Burma.
4. There is no freedom of speech, assembly, travel, and publication.
5. Still formations of new political parties are pending.
6. Even though the regime made an announced in early 2009 that they will sponsor free and fair election in 2010, still election date and election laws are not announced yet now February is approaching.
7. Still formation of independent student’s Unions, Workers’ Unions, Peasants’ Unions, Monks’ Unions are not allowed to form officially.
8. 1990 election winner political party NLD proposed a sensible path for national reconciliation by starting a dialogue and need to change the 2008 constitution into a democratic constitution which guaranteed the human rights.
9. Civil Society has shrunk under military rule, without strong Civil Society there is no possible way Burmese people can get freedom even the opposition win the election in 2010, it will slip back in the hands of power abusers.

All the nine points need to solve before the election. If the SPDC regime does not have a will to solve it, the election will not be free and fair.

The UN, US and John Hopkin’s Professor Karl D Jackson who recently discussed with the Burmese regime needs to understand that above nine points are crucial for the election if not it will not be a recognizable election at all.

Democratic opposition needs to unite as one force, one voice, and fight for our freedom for one country not for one state or one division. We need to forget about which race we belong to or what bitter experience that we had in the past. We all need to know and understand that we all are oppressed under the military dictatorship, every ethnic race including majority Burmans are living under military boots not only one race or one ethnic group. US President Obama said, “There is no Red States or Blue States, no Republicans or Democrats, we need to think as One”. It is true, we need to think as one not one race against another. We need to see the clear picture that we are fighting the system that oppressed us not one race oppressed another. If we pick one race to blame for our suffering, we cannot unite as one strong force. As a result, we are not strong enough to fight our oppressor. Do you want to fight back and win? Try to see the clear picture. It is time to UNITE!

"OUR OPINION ON 2010-ELECTION"

By U Thi Ha Tint Swe

National people's election is the selection of their delegates by all national peoples to serve the profits of all national peoples and their country on national peoples' principles, disciplines, ideology and philosophy and so, it need to be national peoples' election because only the real national peoples' election can serve the profits of all national peoples and country.

Therefore, we shall have to criticize 2010-election of junta that National Peoples' Election (OR) Military Dictator's Enslaved Election. It's sure to be only Military Dictator's Enslaved Election because only the chief commander of military can finally approve the president and two vice-presidents on three qualified war, politic and economic and got 25% shares for the military commanders and tried to win 80% with the back bone parties of junta and rights to military- coupe which included in 2008-constitution and oppressed & isolated Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's NLD party without the release of all political prisoners because Daw Su's NLD party with all political prisoners might organize all national peoples' strongest forces with democratic humanity love & sympathy and they can build up the democratic peaceful united modern development country with global democratic countries for all our national peoples.

After my long political prisoner life for fourteen years, 1st March 2002, I got very important news from our greatest leaders that U Ne Win talked his comrades to never transfer the state power to Daw Aung Sann Su Kyiv and Bo Than Shwe would not like to hear even Aung Sann Su Kyi's name and Bo Mg Aye faith end for only military but not all politicians and If all national peoples demonstrated on the roads as the greatest 8888-democratic movement, will command his military to shoot all with electric stands.

Finally! Junta Regime didn’t faith for even their peaceful groups and so they divided between leaders & military and forced to change the peaceful military into their border guards under their guidance & ruling and fought & assassinated the hard lines and didn’t give the rights on autonomy for all Athenians and approved 2008-constitution on non- democratic federal states of union of Burma and so no democratic rights for our all national peoples in 2010-election on 2008-constitution because we had to know our national Athenians' attitudes when the drawing of the constitution on Democratic federal states of union of Burma together with all national revolutionary forces.

So, our all national peoples knew 2010-election as military dictators’ enslaved election and don't interest in it but only military dictators’ enslaved delegates have persuaded some between hopes & frightens but Daw Su's NLD have tried to get human rights, democratic rights & national reconciliation for the strong new democratic peaceful united modern developed Burma with multi-parties system on Shwe-Gone-Dine's principles.

Recently! Bo Mg Oo said that they will release Daw Su on coming Nov, 2010 after 2010-election on 10/10/2010 and so many persons didn't satisfy it because without Daw Su & all political prisoners can't be fully the general democratic national peoples' election, can be acknowledged by global democratic countries but Junta with his backbones parties can satisfy it because they can get 80% victory. In here! Junta can oppress & fight NLD,UNLD,and U Thu Wae's Democratic Party as the main fire point.

But if Junta could create the pre democratic atmosphere with the participation of Daw Su & all democratic forces before it, our national peoples with global democratic countries can satisfy & accept it.

Really! Election will be an oar of many ways towards the democratic goal and so now we will need to select & prepare other national peoples' strategy & tactics if the elected oar broke in 2010-election and we shall have to anticipate NLD's endeavour which can get Burma's democratic rights, human rights & national reconciliation with the strong concreted forces on all national peoples' strategy & tactics.
