Demonstration infront UN offices on 24th October

Burma Democratic Concern As 2008 is drawing near to an end, we have only ONE year before 2010 when military Generals are planning to hold another elections in which they have set everything to make sure to win the election and it would not be free and fair.If we cannot stop their game plan of 2010 elections, Burma would be under military rule forever and ever and ever.

A tremendous responsibility rests upon the United Nations Organisation to a far better end, and we are looking for a more positive and bolder lead of the United Nations as military regime is trying to nullify the results of the 1990 elections, result in which National League for Democracy led by Aung San Suu Kyi won the landslide victory, by planning to hold another elections in 2010.This is time to take actions and not words. Military regime bought the time for 20 years and we should not let it happen anymore.UN General Assembly has since 1991 passed successive annual Resolutions calling on Burma "to restore democracy and implement the results of the 1990 elections".

"If this country is to achieve genuine democracy, the result of the elections of 1990 must be recognized. It must be recognized by the military regime, as it has been recognized by the people, and by the world at large. It is through this recognition that we will be able to make genuine progress in Burma. The results of the 1990 General Elections must be implemented is a resolution already taken by the United Nations. We already know that the General Assembly of the United Nations has accepted the notion that the will of the people has been expressed in the 1990 General Elections. This is something we cannot abandon. It will be to the detriment of our country if after an election has been held the results are not honoured and we do not resist attempts to trivialise it", once Aung San Suu Kyi insisted.
United Nations' Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon must press Burmese military regime to release all political prisoners including Aung San Suu Kyi, to allow elected MPs of 1990 elections to convene the People's Assembly, to take place meaningful time-bound genuine dialogue between democratic forces led by Aung San Suu Kyi and junta's supreme leader Gen. Than Shwe and to drop 2010 elections game plan before honouring the 1990 elections results.
There will be demonstration infront UNHCR office in UK on 24th October 2008.(There is no UN office in London and we have to choose to do demo in front of the UNHCR office). We would like to urge to all who are concerning about Burma's Freedom, please participate in your respective countries and let's hold our hands together for freedom.
