Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) has an honour meeting with Mr Takehiko Kawabuchi, First Secretary for Legal Affairs, of the Embassy of Japan based in London, UK on 3rd March 2011 (Thursday) from 14:00 - 15:20 pm.

The meeting lasted for 1 hour and 20 minute discussed regarding the safety of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi; to grantee the human rights and Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) passed the letter to Prime Minister of Japan.

Mr Takehiko Kawabuchi promised to summit the letter to his Excellency.

Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) explained why we earnestly seek Japanese government support calling for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s safety; why it is not enough for the regime to simply release Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and why the regime must guarantee that it will not once again attack or arrest at their convenience.

Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) concerns for the safety of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi are escalating after regime’s mouthpiece newspaper openly threatening Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) believes such kind of intimidations should be condemned internationally by those around the world who value democracy, human rights and rule of law.

Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) urged the Japanese government to call for the Burmese regime to put in place the necessary security measures to guarantee Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s safety.

Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) urged the Japanese government to call for the Burmese regime to release all political prisoners allow their participation in the political process, and begin a genuine dialogue as a first step toward national reconciliation.

Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) urged the Japanese government to support Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and genuine democracy activists in taking a leading role to help bring about national reconciliation leading toward restoring peace in Burma.

The safety of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and former political prisoners are very vulnerable since they are always facing the risk of being re-arrested by junta at any time. Addition to that it is the Burma Democratic Concern (BDC)'s core principle to work to free all the political prisoners in Burma.
