Will Daw Aung San Suu Kyi be Free?

As I was doing my Burmese broadcast, pheonixradio.net, I was interrupted by news Aung San Suu Kyi would soon be free. At that time I was contacted by sources within Burma and they verified the existence of a multitude of news reporters near and around Aung San Suu Kyi’s residence. But the verification came with reservations.
The immediate concerns were for Aung San Suu Kyi since assassination came immediately to mind with my Burmese constituents. Though this would be construed as a joyous event to the free world, to the people of Burma they look with apprehension. “Is this just a propaganda ploy to justify or cover up an assassination”, was the top of the list of worries. I would like to think Gen. Than Shwe wanted to be a part of Burma’s positive history rather than the “Great Oppressor” of the contemporary era. Only time will tell at this juncture. The death of Aung San Suu Kyi would be the doom of all who invested in tyranny.
It is advisable that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi remain in the public’s eye, just in case this was a ploy. It would only be obvious this were not a ploy if Aung San Suu Kyi were to establish a working dialogue with Gen. Than Shwe. Then change would be spontaneous, all encompassing and the world would know it was genuine. One can only pray.
From this vantage point, it’s is all speculation. I am eager to read the feeds that lay before me at this time.
