Dear Friends,

Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) will be holding the demonstration in front of the Burmese Embassy in London, UK to commemorate 23rd anniversary of the military coup in Burma.

Burmese Students led the people calling for change demanding democracy, human rights and rule of law in Burma and military responded by opening fire on unarmed demonstrators.

Thousands of peaceful protestors were killed and the military staged the military coup on 18 September 1988 pledging to transfer power to the election winning party after the election.

Military regime held election in 1990 in which Daw Aung San Suu Kyi led National League for Democracy (NLD) won landslide victory but the junta ignored to honor the election results.

People of Burma are still suffering, after 23 years on, but we don't forget the fallen heroes who sacrifice their lives in our struggle for democracy in Burma.

To remember our fallen heroes, and to show our support for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s call for peace, dialogue, and national reconciliation, Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) will be holding the demonstration on 16th September 2011 (Friday) from 13:00-14:00 in front of the Burmese Embassy in London, UK and the address is 19A Charles Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 5DX http://maps.google.com/
