Friends Inside Burma Are Calling For People Power Movement Now
People inside Burma are calling for the people power movement in order to restore justice for Aung San Suu Kyi and justice for Burma as they aren't happy about junta's unfair treatment to our leader.
-Aung San Suu Kyi must be released immediately
-Aung San Suu Kyi is the legitimate leader
-Aung San Suu Kyi must be Prime Minister of Burma
Junta's committed injustice on Aung San Suu Kyi
-illegally and unfairly put Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest for 14 of the last 19 years
-denied to give medical treatment
-arrested medical doctor
-plot the ploy as detention is about to expire
-wrongly charged and tried to imprison her
-not allowing defend lawyers
-ignore to honour 1990 election result
-to nullify 1990 election result, they are planning to hold rigged 2010 election
-adopted unilaterally drafted constitution in rigged referendum
-constitution is designed to perpetuate military rule in Burma
-military will take 25% of the parliamentary seats automatically
What we must do outside Burma
-demand Ban Ki-Moon to engage personally for justice for Aung San Suu Kyi
-demand Ban Ki-Moon to work practically until Aung San Suu Kyi is released
-demand world leaders to keep on pressing junta to free Aung San Suu Kyi immediately
-demand world leaders to work practically until Aung San Suu Kyi is free
Background history
Aung San Suu Kyi was ailing and junta denied giving proper medical treatment. Instead of giving her full medical attention junta arrested her personal doctor.
There was an American intruder to Aung San Suu Kyi’s house and because of him- she was arrested, charged and tried in the Insein prison which could end up at least 5 years imprisonment.
This is junta’s plot. This is junta’s cunning act to imprison Aung San Suu Kyi as her 6 years house arrest would be expire on 27 May 2009. Junta wanted to lock Aung San Suu Kyi in the jail forever as their rigged 2010 election plan is drawing nearer in which they are setting up everything to win their backed party.
Aung San Suu Kyi’s party, NLD, won landslide victory in 1990 general election but regime still ignore to honour it. Instead put Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest and she has spent 14 of the last 20 years.
The free and democratic world has a moral responsibility to intervene on behalf of humanity. The criminal regime of Than Shwe has crossed the boundaries of morality as well as sanity.
Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) warmly welcomes world leaders’ statement regarding justice for Aung San Suu Kyi. But we wanted to see more action. Crisis in Burma is in critical situation and we must take immediate actions to intervene to stop injustice in Burma. Clock is ticking and we have no time to waste.
We demand that Ban Ki-Moon must personally engage in Burma crisis as well as he must send the ultimate ultimatum to release Aung San Suu Kyi immediately.

On 6th of May, an American citizen was detained by Burmese military regime after secretly swimming across Inya Lake, Rangoon to gain access to the Nobel Laureate’s House. According to the official Burmese media, he was identified as 53-year old former military serviceman John William Yettaw of Falcon, Missouri, USA. On 13th of May, American diplomat was allowed to meet with him. Although his motives for the alleged lake exploits remain unclear, it caused the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi to serve jail terms under the anti-subversion laws.
Aung San Suu Kyi has spent most of the past 19 years detained in virtual isolation in her crumbing compound since the junta refused to recognize her party’s landslide victory in the country’s last election in 1990. Her last period of detention at her home expires at the end of May. This expiration of six years of house arrest, without trail or charge or even figleaf of legal respectability, was to have yanked away from the generals.
Now, due to the uninvited access to her compound by American citizen, the military generals no longer need to trouble themselves with legal niceties and it has given them a ready-made reason to imprison the most prominent political prisoner up for at least another five years. It would perfectly play into the hands of the junta if the United States of America and international community do not stand up with the People of Burma who have been oppressed by the junta for several years.
Therefore, we call upon the international community and overseas Burmese people around the world to the global action for Free Aung San Suu Kyi. Demonstrations and a number of activities will take place in different countries. We would like to encourage everyone to join with us to show solidarity and unity.
“Add your voice to a call for Free Aung San Suu Kyi”
